New York is known all around the world for its imposing skyscrapers and its monumental buildings. Melissa Freitas from @maladememorias, has visited the city many times and, in this article, she talks about places to get the best views of NYC. Check it out!

New York is the city that leaves me breathless every time I visit. I could say it’s the best place in the world to me, the rush of people, the movements, the shops, the uncountable options of restaurants, everything about that place fascinates me. I have been there a few times, and I’m going to share some of the best observatories in NY with you, according to my point of view.

Best Overlook in New York

Visiting some lookouts is always on my list of things to do on a trip. The possibility of seeing some of the famous and imposing buildings of New York that mix with the nature of Central Park always makes me return to Top Of The Rock every time I visit the city. The impotent and wonderful One World Trade Center made me speechless, because I wasn’t expecting a view like that. And at last, the Empire State Building, which is one of the postcards of the city.

One World Trade Center – One World Observatory

Do you know the surreal feeling of not expecting much of a place and ending up surprising yourself? That was my reaction going up the top of One World Trade Center, a place that gave me the best experience of my trip

Going into the elevator, you start to feel the majesty of the attraction, some led screens start to show a movie about the construction of the tower while reaching the observatory. The climb is so fast that when you realise, you are already on top. Going out from the elevator, you enter a dark room, in which you can watch a small movie about the history of the building and when you least expect it, something opens and you have one of the best views in NYC, it’s an incredible experience.

After this triumphal entrance to reach the lookout, you can walk through the two floors of the observatory and take pictures from many different angles. Choose a bright and sunny day, because it makes a lot of difference, seeing the sun reflected on the Hudson river and on the buildings around it. It’s amazing, I spent about 3 hours admiring the view. The entrance cost is around 34 dollars at the observatory’s official site.

Top Of The Rock – Skyline to Visit in NYC

The Top Of The Rock is another place with one of the best views of NY. I like it so much, I visited it 4 times, and will keep going every time I set foot in New York. The coolest thing about this observatory is the view of Central Park, but you can also see Times Square and have a great view of New York in general.

I have also visited the Top Of the Rock several times of the day: in the morning, afternoon, at sundown and during the night. Considering all these options, I recommend going at sundown, because you can use the brightness of the day to take pictures and still have a wonderful view of the city at night. Apart from some time to enjoy the attraction, it’s worth staying a few minutes admiring the sight.

Empire State Building – Best View in NYC

And I couldn\’t leave out the Empire State Building, one of the symbols of the city and another place that hosts the best views in NYC, considering it is one of the most famous buildings in the world. Although iconic, its view is inferior to the others. One of the reasons that led me to this conclusion is because the place is surrounded by other big buildings, disturbing the view and the photos.

With this brief report, I hope to have helped you when it comes to choosing one of them, in case you can’t visit them all.
